Colourize and treatment

Sharing experience for colour boosting , based on my C@be (N1wan's ChiliRed)
1. Tanning method
a. Sunray , since 7.30am to 11.00am the tank will be exposed to sunray
bath at angled direction
b. At 11.00am to 20.00pm tanning held by 1 @30W 16.000K TL light
(submerged underwater) at just below water level and 1 @20W 16.000K
TL and 1@ 20W Actnic Blue 22.000K TL . , The light tube will replaced
every 4 months
2. Water management : pH level set at 6.3 and gH level at 8.0-9.0 , salinity
low , pH level managed decreasing with blackwater , increasing with
water changing ( my arthesis water are pH 7.6, stabil with good buffering
capacity level) Oxygen level managed by aerator pump and sprayed
water from canister output, O3 treatment 1hour every day to keep
sterilize the tank.
Blackwater treatment : every 3days ,tank's water changed 30% and
treated with blackwater extract to be pH6.3 . gH is lowered using ion
exchange resin filtration for new water change (not on the tank).
Normally i used 3 bottle @500ml Tetra Blackwater extract every 2
months .
3. Feeding and Diet :
Feeded only with crickets , prawns and bamboo worms , diet will be
feeded on balance (all 3 types of them in a day) and feeding times is
every 4 hours start at 8.00am , 12am, 16.00pm and last at 20.00pm,
always never feeded full in one feeding time except for last feeding .
4. Filtration :
2 @ 1500l/h canister filter using bio filtration media , to keep the water
balance in biological recycle , the filter is perfectly balanced already and
i'm using gravel bed with undergravel pad for intake to canister

No heaters allowed , the tank's glass always keep brushed clean for better viewing and tanning but i let the algae growth in the tank to keep the balance of blackwater condition water.
This way i could manage my fish to always healthy , feeds very well and very2 well growth , also nice colourization .
The key word is the fish genetic itself and the treatment .
Fill it both then you deserve a best Aro

Bro, i think you have posted a very helpful information here. I was told that 12,000k lights will turn my reds pale, now I'm more convinced that it'll be better for my fish as there's only minimal sunlight exposure to my tank.

Garry , sunlight is the best for tanning , but somehow i also believe to avoid direct sunlight at 11am to 2pm because of the heat radiation.
Use the lamp's type that generally used for plants growth

Re: Colourize and treatment

Om JD, kalo aro-nya terexpose matahari langsung dari pagi sampe sore (08am s.d. 05pm) ada efek buruknya gak kira2? So far sih aro-nya sehat2 aja, paling2 aquanya butek sama lumut.
Trus apakah dgn cara seperti ini masih diperlukan tanning dgn lampu?

Thanks

Actnic blue spectrum believed (by me) for deepening the tone of colouration , ussually used as coral plantation on marine aquariums, colour temperatures are vary from 18.000K to 22.000K

Have tried Philips Aqua Coral TL/03 recently, seem to work quite as well in deepening rim color :)

Bung JD, how is ur opinion about Philips Lighting ??? Is there any information between those lamps ?

Bung GoldenFin, which one more easiest to get the lamp between Philips and Actinic ?

How about the price ?

Thanks ...

Re: Colourize and treatment

Actnic Blue is type of TL not brand of TL ,
You may use Philips , Hagen or else
Philips Actnic 03 Aqua is 19.000K , Philips 02 is 22.000K ( more blue) the 02 is better for deepening tone colour ,but it will ruin your tone vision (the fish will looks bluish visibly during the lighting)

The Philips I mentioned is actinic bro. Just like bro JD described :)

Price around 70-80rb (made in Holland). Far cheaper than Sylvania Coral Star which cost around 199rb (made in Germany).

Just Curious that Sylvana is made in Germany or Holland coz I have used the brand in the past and I have been red the manufacturing seems like Holland like Phillips.
